Technology

Technology hardware plays a vital role in supporting BNC’s mission by enabling staff to deliver high-quality, responsive services to the community. Reliable laptops, tablets, and mobile devices allow team members—especially those in the field—to access critical information, document services in real time, and stay connected with colleagues and clients. Office-based hardware such as servers, networking equipment, and workstations ensures smooth day-to-day operations, secure data handling, and efficient communication. With the right technology in place, BNC can operate more effectively, respond quickly to client needs, maintain compliance standards, and support a growing, mobile, and collaborative workforce—all of which are essential to fulfilling its mission.

Hardware

Hosting storage locally allows for increased security and better control over sensitive data, ensuring compliance with all licensing and accreditation standards. By maintaining in-house servers, the organization can support a range of essential software critical to daily operations. This setup also helps improve the consistency of wireless connectivity across all facilities, creating a more reliable and efficient work environment.

Additionally, ensuring that internet providers offer sufficient upload and download speeds supports seamless communication and data transfer. Equipping team members with the right technology, especially those involved in community-based services, enhances productivity and service delivery.

Finally, expanding remote work options and online collaborative spaces fosters greater flexibility and teamwork across the organization.

Software

We are committed to continually evaluating both current and emerging software solutions to ensure they effectively support our team. This includes leveraging productivity suites that provide essential organizational tools, enabling staff to work more efficiently. We also prioritize electronic health record (EHR) systems that meet the needs of both clients and team members, ensuring seamless, user-friendly access to critical information. In addition, we will explore other software platforms that streamline workflows and enhance the effectiveness of our client-facing support teams.

Looking Forward

As we look to the future, we will evaluate our current Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to determine the best long-term solution that aligns with BNC’s evolving needs. As we grow, expanding both the number and quality of remote devices—and strengthening our ability to support them—will be essential. At the same time, we must strategically manage the rising costs of technology, including hardware and software, while preparing for an increase in team members and work sites. Enhancing our ability to monitor and track workforce activity, both within our buildings and in the community, is a priority for ensuring staff safety. To better support a distributed workforce and strengthen data security, we aim to transition from locally hosted systems to cloud-based solutions. Finally, implementing an up-to-date and accurate inventory tracking system will improve management of both hardware and software contracts across the organization.
