2025 Community Needs Assessment

ree

The Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center (BNC) was established in 1950 as a living memorial to Professor Bert Nash, an educational psychologist whose commitment to mental health—particularly for children—left a lasting legacy in the community.

In 2022, BNC earned CARF accreditation, and in 2023, became a fully certified Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). These milestones strengthened BNC’s ability to meet the evolving needs of its clients and supported its transition toward a more sustainable, client-centered model of care. Meeting the rigorous standards of both certifications enhanced the organization’s capacity to fulfill its mission and illuminated new opportunities to improve the lives of those it serves.

Throughout this process, BNC identified key barriers, including long wait times, limited awareness of available resources, provider shortages, and financial challenges caused by the high demand for quality care. Despite these challenges, the organization has made measurable progress. By partnering with community organizations and integrating new technologies, BNC has improved care coordination, increased provider productivity, and implemented more effective feedback systems. While there is still work to be done to fully meet the mental health needs of the community, BNC remains committed to listening, learning, and evolving its services in response to those it serves.
