Finding the Right Path

There’s a moment many parents recognize - the shift from “we should probably look into this” to “we need help now.”

For one local family, that moment came quickly.

Their daughter had always been a bit anxious, but last winter something changed. What once felt manageable became urgent.

“It went from ‘we should think about therapy’ to ‘this is at the top of the list…maybe today.’”

Like so many families, they weren’t sure where to turn. But the Bert Nash Center felt familiar. As a child, the mother had once received care here. Now, years later, she returned, this time seeking support for her own daughter.

“It doesn’t take too many synapses in my brain to get to Bert Nash. It’s always there. I think of Bert Nash as a North Star. You start here, and it helps guide you to what you need.”

From the moment they walked in, the experience felt different than expected. Instead of fear or uncertainty, they found a place that was welcoming, approachable, and grounded in care.

“Everything was so normalized that even my 10-year-old was like, ‘Oh, this is cool.’”

With the right support, their daughter began to understand herself in new ways. She felt empowered in her care.

“I think it’s been really empowering for her… this recognition of, ‘this is something I deserve.’”

For this mother, the impact was just as meaningful.

“A couple months ago, I was just surviving. Now I actually have the headspace to think and reflect. We’re in a better place and on the right path.”

Today, they see the Bert Nash Center as more than a service. It’s a trusted resource for their entire family and community.

“Everyone is welcome here. Everyone.”
