Treatment and Recovery Center’s Full Crisis Intervention Center (CIC) Licensing Officially Goes into Effect, First in the State of Kansas

After being initially recommended for a provisional Crisis Intervention Center (CIC) License by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) in March of 2025, beginning October 2025 that

license is now officially permanent. A review of the Treatment and Recovery Center’s (TRC) care and treatment policies, procedures, and operations was conducted by KDADS and found to meet substantial compliance. The CIC Licensure represents the care and treatment model recommended by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

The TRC has demonstrated a significant reduction in state hospital admissions by reducing admissions to Osawatomie State Hospital by 70% between 2018 and 2025. This represents more accessibility and local options for crisis intervention and crisis beds to support clients where they live, work, and play.

"Achieving CIC licensure affirms that the TRC is not only a trusted destination for those in behavioral health crisis, but also a model that meets Kansas’ highest standards for Crisis Intervention Centers. I’m incredibly proud of our TRC team for pioneering this vision. It’s deeply validating to see our approach recognized and contributing to the evolution of crisis systems across the state." - Ryan Sztorch, Senior Director of Crisis Services

Located at 1000 W. Second St. in Lawrence, the TRC is open 24/7, 365 days a year. No appointment is necessary.
