Youth Recovery Center: Building Momentum

Exciting progress continues on the Judge Jean Shepherd Youth Recovery Center, bringing our community closer to a dedicated place for children and teens experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
Phased construction is moving forward thanks to the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services grant funding, and the community continues to rally behind this important investment in our youth. Douglas County has committed a $1.5 million investment in the Youth Recovery Center.
With this support and the generosity of individuals, families, businesses and community partners, $8.7 million has now been secured toward the $12 million project.
When complete, the Youth Recovery Center will provide 24/7 crisis stabilization alongside expanded outpatient services for youth ages 6–17—all in one location designed specifically around the needs of young people and their families.
We’re making progress, but there is still work to do. Every investment brings us closer to opening the doors and ensuring young people can receive the early intervention to create lasting prevention. For more information go to www.bertnash.org/yrc.
