Back to nature: Sunflower staff, board visit Bert Nash, tour new park and walking trail

Members of the Sunflower Foundation staff and Board of Directors visited Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center on Thursday and toured a new park and nature trail, which are being developed on property the Center will donate to the city. Other community partners who are involved in making the park, which will be named for the late Bert Nash CEO Sandra Shaw, and nature trail a reality were also on hand. The walking trail, which is being built in conjunction with the city of Lawrence, will extend from an entry point northwest of Second and Indiana streets, go past Lawrence Memorial Hospital and the Community Health Facility, and continue along the Kansas River to Burcham and Constant parks near Vermont and Sixth streets downtown. The trail has received funding from the Sunflower Foundation.
