Building for the Future
Mar Lan Construction provided a tour on August 19th for staff and community partners involved in Transitions and The Cottages, two housing projects on the Treatment and Recovery Campus of Douglas County. The campus will provide services and housing for individuals with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. The Cottages are apartments owned and operated by the Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority and will serve up to 10 clients who have been diagnosed with a behavioral health condition. Transitions will serve up to 12 clients of Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center. These clients will attend programs designed to enhance their recovery and transition back into the community. Construction is expected to be finished this fall.
Community partners along with Douglas County will have a groundbreaking ceremony in late October for a crisis and recovery center that is part of the Treatment and Recovery Campus of Douglas County. The crisis center will provide high quality behavioral health crisis services and will have an Access Center, a 24-hour Observation Unit, and a Crisis Stabilization Unit.
