Meet our WRAP therapists – Shelley Bointy

With the start of school approaching, we want to recognize our individual WRAP therapists. WRAP (Working to Recognize Alternative Possibilities) is a Bert Nash Center in-school therapy program, in partnership with Douglas County schools. The groundbreaking program began in 1997 and continues to thrive today. WRAP assigns a master’s-level clinician to a school to work collaboratively with the school’s mental health professionals to help with the behavioral, emotional, and psychological problems students can have. We are proud of our WRAP therapists and wish them and all Douglas County students and their families, as well as teachers, staff, and administrators a successful school year.

"In my 6th to 8th grade years, I was the only Native person in my grade, and one of 3 students of color. Those experiences shape my practice. I want my middle school students to feel safe, I want them to know that someone sees and hears them, and thinks they are important, I want my students of color to see someone that looks like them supporting their mental health and advocating for them. I want my students and their families to know that I will always have their back."
