Sally* has been a Bert Nash Center client for over nine years, and she credits Bert Nash with reducing her psychiatric hospitalizations and suicidal feelings.
Sally has Schizoaffective Disorder, which can involve intense anxiety and depression, especially when her husband is gone on his night job. Over the years, Sally has participated in many Bert Nash programs, including several months in the Intensive Outpatient Program, and many years with her therapist Dr. Jean Dirks. “Sally has made tremendous progress, and I am super proud of her and her glass-half-full attitude,” Dr. Dirks said. Sally also sees Dr. Joe Douglas for medication. In her words, both Dr. Douglas and Dr. Dirks are “very caring and helpful.”
Recently a new diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disorder has really challenged Sally, but she is hanging in there. “If your head is doing things that you don’t want it to do, Bert Nash is the place to go,” she said.
A former schoolteacher now in her 60’s, Sally enjoys gardening, walking, water aerobics, painting and crafts, and spending time with her husband.
