Open Wounds

It is with sorrowful hearts that introspect is taken.
For, it is in the land of the free that feelings of unrest trouble the spirit. Who else begs the question? — In whose bosom does freedom lie?
With 2020 lenses, some feel closer to the calamities of historical apartheid South Africa and Jim Crow America — experiencing trepidations of déjà vu.
No longer is it an experience that the young ones read from a history text, or capture from an interview with a first-hand elder.
Echoes of “We are still here!” ring through the hearts and minds of many. Painful wounds are reopened, and realities surfaced of healing not yet begun. What is the resolve in this matter?
Some say the remedy is Love. — Not black love; not white love; not people of color love; no prerequisite love; just love.
The strong argument is made that love carries with it an unhindered level of peace, unity, ability to listen and understand, exercise of empathy and compassion, actions of inclusivity and equity, forward movement of needed reformations, transformations and any other similitude and relevant context you care to add.
Be it as it may. Know this, that the voices of many cry, “Please let the resolve bring healing! For, the wounds are still tender to the touch. This moment is critical. These wounds have been open too long!”
