Sierra, Therapy Client Care Coordinator

“My job as a Care Navigator is just the best.

The Care Navigators are the first people potential clients meet when they contact Bert Nash to start their healing journey. We set them up for success by talking with them about their needs, helping them understand their care options, and connecting them to community resources. We are a piece of the CCBHC implementation, the new statewide standard for community mental health centers. The point of CCBHC is to provide comprehensive, holistic care where we view people as more than their mental health challenges. I get to play a direct role in improving the way clients access our services. I’m excited to be doing work that makes it easier than ever for people to get the help they need when they need it.

“Watching clients grow and heal is my favorite part of my job and reminds me that the work I do matters. My job is also important to me because I get to give back to the community that has made me feel home since the day I moved here. As a KU student, I always want to find a way to give back to Lawrence. Bert Nash lets me do that. I don’t just help people navigate systems of care; I help others find a place in Douglas County that feels like home.”
